Helping a Young Mother
A tale of strength, resilience, and community support
Meet an extraordinary young mother who, despite facing unimaginable challenges, embodies grace and resilience.
A former nurse and recent widow, she cares for her eight-year-old twin boys, one of whom bravely battles a serious heart condition. This courageous child, now living with spastic quadriparesis, is entirely dependent for all care, yet his spirit shines bright. Tragically, the family lost their beloved father to Covid, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. A skilled craftsman, the father excelled in home improvements and maintenance, and was a wonderful hands-on dad to the twins.
In a display of solidarity, Kinzie Builders spearheads an awe-inspiring project to renovate their home. Supported by generous vendors like Coyote Construction, Landscape Construction, and Floor & Wall, the team embarks on a mission to transform the family’s living space. From rehabilitating the deteriorating deck to addressing drainage issues and overgrown vegetation, every effort is made to create a safer, more accessible environment for this resilient family.
Kinzie regraded the yard, removed a huge berm, placed sod, and landscaped and replaced the large falling-down fence. 101 Mobility moved, rehabbed and extended an existing metal accessibility ramp to reach 60 feet. GV’s Heating and Cooling also replaced the home’s central air when the 40+ year-old system gave out, responding on an emergency basis, just before a heat wave and poor air quality hit. Next year we plan to install an exterior lift.
